According to Dallas Innovates, You Go Natural (YGN) announced the close of a $2 million seed funding round led by Brand Foundry Venture Partners. Other participants who are assisting the Black-owned hair company include Capital Factory, Willow Growth Partners, and Lightspeed Venture Partners. Monique Little founded YGN in 2016. Her beauty brand is currently based in Dallas.
Dallas Innovates also said that YGN was created when Little realized that she needed a method of protecting her hair, while looking good on the go, after giving birth. In response, Little opted to create a pre-tied and satin-lined headwrap, using her sewing machine. A demand for headwraps from her Instagram followers led to making and selling her creations online.

“You Go Natural was born out of the idea that it should not be difficult to wear your hair as it naturally grows out of your head,” Little told Dallas Innovates. “It’s an affirmation for women who dare to love themselves naturally.”
YGN has blossomed into a multimillion-dollar generating company. T-shirts turbans, headbands, open crown wraps, T-shirt buns, and T-shirt turbans are sold online, according to Dallas Innovates.
On YGN’s website, Little mentioned that she designed YGN Headwraps with functionality and beauty in mind.
“As a Black woman with naturally textured hair, I enjoy the beauty of headwraps and how they allow us to connect with our cultural roots. I also love how they allow us to protect and cover our hair when needed,” Little said.
YGN reportedly informed AfroTech that funds will be used to expand YGN’s Dallas-based production facility from 1,500 to 7,500 square feet. Staff will increase to more than 100 employees. AfroTech also said that YGN intends to explore retail options. Little added that an ambitious product roadmap is expected to be rolled out over the next year or so.
